We are manufacturers of very high quality furniture, mostly English 18th and early 19th century accurate reproductions of antique models, but with a high degree of authentic and precise copying. We make from the antique sample for our production models so that proportion, finish and style are correct. The background to our business is as follows. We started in the antique business in 1957 and later on as manufacturers specialising in furniture of the period 1760 to 1835. In 1984, when chairs became really difficult to find in long sets, we took the decision to make outstanding reproductions of the antique models in our own collection. After a long search for suitable makers and for the best wood available. The quality of Thai craftsmanship and our access to the best cabinet timbers was a long way ahead of other makers we looked at in countries where the labour rates were not too high. We had already acquired the long established Colonial Cabinet Company and were able to supply key staff, some of whom were graduates if the West Dean College in England, to help with the quality control and to ensure the accuracy of our design intent. Although we were quite successful in retailing our production through our showrooms, we have been able to increase production gradually, as more expert craftsmen have been trained, to a level where we are actively seeking further outlets. Of necessity, we are still a fairly small manufacturer with a factory staff of about 50 people and this seems to be our optimum number to keep our quality consistently high. Many years of interpretating designs and realising the intention of the designer combine with 50 years of experience of interior design at the very highest level and development of product suitable for a diverse range of interiors gives us the confidence to know that we will be able to complete this project to the entire satisfaction of all concerned.
